Empoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori admits he does not know if he has played his last home game for the club after the 1-1 draw against Sampdoria.

The 29-year-old Italian international has enjoyed a superb season with the promoted club, leading to reports that Fiorentina, AC Milan and today’s opponents Sampdoria are heavily interested in him.

“Was it my last game at home? I do not know. It was the last home game of the season, and we wanted to finish it well [for the fans],” Valdifiori told Sky Sport Italia.

“Sarri? We grew up with him. For many of us, this is our first season in the Serie A, and he has given us self-esteem and confidence, and the will to never give up.

“We created many chances in the first half, but in the last 20 minutes they showed their quality and [Samuel] Eto’o scored a great equalizer.

It’s been a good year, a year that I will always remember. The only blemish is not yet to have scored a goal.

“The new Valdifiori? In Serie B, I’ve been following [Federico] Viviano, [Marco] Fossati and Ronaldo.”
