Roma midfielder Alessandro Florenzi praised the Giallorossi fans after his side’s 2-0 win over Genoa.

The 24-year-old scored his third goal in five games against the Grifone but said that he is happier with the three points and he now hopes that Lazio can slip up in their game away to Atalanta so the Lupi can hang onto second place.

“Lately I’ve been scoring a lot but it’s more important that the team wins,” said Florenzi to Sky Sport Italia after the win at the Stadio Olimpico.

“When you take to the pitch, start running at speed and hear the fans pushing you on then it’s natural that you will give your all.

“I don’t know how I will feel tomorrow morning but fortunately the next game is six days away.

“Our fans will help us to take back second place, this was an important victory as it puts us back where we want to be.

“Now we hope that Lazio will slip up.”
