The father of Napoli forward Gonzalo Higuain has added further fire to the flames of speculation surrounding his son’s Serie A future.
There have been continued reports from the peninsula in recent weeks that the Argentina international could decide to move on should the club fail to secure Champions League football for next season.
Speaking to El Crack Deportivo, Jorge Higuain – who also acts as a representative for the player – did say though that he does not believe ‘El Pipita’ will leave: “There are many teams interested in Gonzalo, I know this.
“However, he still has three years remaining on a contract with Napoli so I do not think he will leave.”
With two games of the season to go, Higuain and Napoli are three points off third-placed Lazio in an exciting race for the Champions League places that sees the Aquile play a Derby della Capitale before travelling to the San Paolo on the final day of the campaign.
