Inter and Barcelona sporting directors Piero Ausilio and Ariedo Braida met on Wednesday to talk about Nerazzurri midfielder Mateo Kovacic.
The Spanish giants are currently undergoing a transfer ban imposed by FIFA but have shown a strong interest in the Croatian midfielder.
According to Sky Sport Italia, Ausilio and Braida met to open up negotiations about a possible move. The Catalans have earmarked Kovacic as a potential replacement Xavi who will leave the team in the summer when his contract expires.
The Croatian who joined Inter in January 2013 for 11 million euros has been a mainstay in the Nerazzurri midfield this season scoring 8 goals in all competitions.
