Former Italy and Juventus coach Marcello Lippi has praised the ability of Massimiliano Allegri in the wake of Juventus reaching the Champions League final.

Allegri, who took over the club at the start of the season from Antonio Conte, successfully defeated Real Madrid on Wednesday and is now in a position to win the treble.

Speaking to the press, Lippi was full of praise for the efforts of Allegri but also that of Conte in previous seasons. “It is wrong to say that Allegri has succeeded where Conte failed. Allegri has completed the work of Conte,” said Lippi.

The Italian also spoke about the manner of Conte’s departure and how Allegri had built upon the previous manager’s work.

“The work of Conte ended late last year and the way in which he ended at the club, obviously caused a stir. But [Allegri] has worked with great intelligence, not giving up anything of what was done by his predecessor and he added some things.”

“[He] has added value with international successes and has completed the process of growth of this team.”

The 67-year-old also said that the mindset of the Juventus players is different now and that they can go all the way.

“The belief that is now in the players of Juventus is not the same as it was early in the season.”
