Andrea Mandorlini has said that he has never seen his future away from Hellas Verona ahead of their match against Juventus at the weekend.

The Italian coach has guaranteed the club another year in Serie A with Verona currently 13th in the table and comfortably safe from relegation.

Ahead of the match against the Bianconeri, he did not want to spend time discussing his own future but instead decided to lavish praise on experienced forward Luca Toni who goes into the match as the league’s top scorer just one goal ahead of the Old Lady’s Carlos Tévez.

“I’ve never seen my future far away from here, but we will wait and see what happens at the end of the season,” Mandorlini told Rai Sport.

“I was lucky enough to play with some great players in my career and with Luca [Toni] I have incorporated with him my own experiences.

“He is a great player and has come back in the game and contributes very well.

“We are a team that plays by having a focal point and that is Toni’s strength, and at times I think he can be too generous, that makes me angry because if he remains further forward then he is lethal.”

However, Mandorlini also commented on another notable striker at the club and insisted that Javier Saviola has probably deserved more opportunities than he has afforded him this season.

“He [Saviola] deserved to play more, but we play in a different way,” the tactician said.

“He is a good man and he has always made himself available to me.”
