AC Milan defender Philippe Mexes is set to renew his expiring contract with the club, amid uncertainity over his future.
The 33-year-old French centre back moved to Milan in 2011 as a free agent after his contract with Roma expired and has since then collected 104 appearances for the Rossoneri across all competitions, netting an impressive amount of six goals and assisting another seven.
According to Italian paper Libero, the Frenchman is ready to renew his contract for two years and has accepted a gradual pay cut, which will secure him an annual salary of €1.5 million.
With his current contract securing him an annual salary of €4 million, Mexes is the highest paid defender in Serie A and one of the highest paid players in the league overall.
