Rafael Benitez NapoliThe future of Napoli’s coaching position is uncertain with rumours of Rafael Benitez future continuing.

Napoli, who are currently in the semi-final of the Europa League, are keen on renewing the current coach’s contract.

As reported by Sport Mediaset, Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis is willing to offer Benitez a one year contract extension with the option of a further renewal.

Benitez’s agent, Manuel Garcua Quilon met with the Napoli president to discuss the renewal of the coach’s contract.

The Spaniard has been linked to a move back to the Premier League with the departure of Manuel Pellegrini of Manchester City, reportedly imminent.

The 55-year-old spent several seasons in England, having managed at Liverpool for over six seasons before becoming the interim manager at Chelsea following the departure of Roberto Di Matteo.

Should the former player decide to leave Napoli, De Laurentiis has set his sights on current Sampdoria coach Siniša Mihajlovic, who has guided Sampdoria to a European spot in just his second season in charge.

Napoli currently sit fourth and are just four points away from second placed Roma.
