Genoa goalkeeper Mattia Perin believes his imminent contract renewal with the Rossoblu is indicative of his love for the club, after the Grifoni claimed another heart stopping victory against Inter on Saturday night.

A late Juraj Kucka header was enough to send the Genoa faithful into raptures and claim a 3-2 victory over the Nerazzurri, and with news that the 22-year-old is set to extend his stay in Liguria, the shot stopper is hopeful that his future at the club will include a place in the Europa League.

“The standings are really nice, we deserve to be in the Europa League,” he told Mediaset Premium.

“I feel particularly close to this club, I have grown a lot here. My contract renewal is a big signal that I want to show.

“The year at Pescara was difficult, I lost a bit of faith in myself. Here at Genoa they helped me to rediscover that faith and find balance that has allowed me to play regularly over the past two seasons.

“We enjoy playing like this, we risk things at the back but if these are the results than it is worth it.”
