Fiorentina’s David Pizarro was disappointed that the Viola were beaten 5-0 on aggregate in the Europa League semi-final by Sevilla, as the Gigliati had hoped for an all-Italian final against Napoli who were themselves eliminated by Dnipro.

The Chilean midfielder also praised Sevilla’s ability to get results in European competition and reiterated the fact that the Viola must concentrate for their remaining games in Serie A so that they qualify for next season’s competition.

“We certainly wasted our chance to qualify in the first leg,” Pizarro told the press.

“Sevilla are a side that know how to get results, they know how to play in these games.

“Thanks to God,  I still feel good afterwards, I don’t have any physical problems.

“The elimination is a shame because we wanted to play in an all-Italian final, we tried but couldn’t make it happen.

“We still have the league season to finish and we absolutely have to make fifth place.”
