Parma and Hellas Verona drew 2-2 at the Stadio Ennio Tardini Sunday afternoon following an entertaining encounter in the Serie A.

Parma took the lead midway through the first half when Raffaele Palladino was sent through, before his blocked effort found its way to Antonio Nocerino who showed great skill to finish past Rafael.

Parma extended their lead when Silvestre Varela finished well from a tight angle on the left flank before Luca Toni rose well in the box to fire a bullet header past Antonio Mirante late in the first half.

Toni completed the comeback when he stepped up and convert a late penalty following an Alessandro Lucarelli handball to ensure the points were shared.

Antonio Mirante – 6– Agile

Had a quiet first period but was helpless to prevent Toni’s bullet header. Gathered well from a tame effort but did well to save a powerful Lopez effort from the edge of the box.

Mattia Cassani – 5.5 – Poor

Looked uninterested in closing down Agostini who was able to cross for Toni’s goal and did not look comfortable when attacks came down his flank.

Zouhair Feddal – 5.5 – Careless

Outmuscled by Toni that allowed the veteran Italian to power home a header from inside the box and could consider himself lucky not to give away a penalty after a shirt pull inside the box.

Alessandro Lucarelli – 5 – Erroneous

Showed bravery and experience to slide in and block a Toni effort but looked vulnerable on occasions when the ball made its way into the box, despite looking strong in the air at times. Gave away a late penalty for a handball in the box.

Massimo Gobbi – 5.5 – Average

The former Fiorentina full-back performed averagely throughout the tie heading the ball clear from danger with relative comfort.

Andi Lila– 6 – Simple

Produced some decent passes but remained quiet with a no nonsense performance, keeping it simple with most aspects of his game.

Jose Mauri – 6 – Bright

The 19-year-old Argentine has had a productive season and showed glimpses of his ability with some neat footwork and showed great vision to assist Parma’s second goal with a pass out to the left flank.

Antonio Nocerino – 7 – Driving

Showed a willingness to work tirelessly in the centre field battle and looked dangerous around the box forcing Rafael into a number of saves. Put his side ahead when he ran into the box and to turn in Palladino’s blocked effort past the helpless goalkeeper.

Silvestre Varela – 7 – Shift

The 30-year-old showed a great engine to continue a remarkable work rate throughout the match but should have done better to hit the target from close range which would have but his side into the lead early on. Made amends in the 36th minute to slot a well taken left footed shot past the Verona ‘keeper.

Cristobal Jorquera – 5.5 – Vision

Showed great vision to unleash Palladino in the build up to the first goal but lacked further input when Parma were on the offensive. Did not impress in the final third and was consequently substituted.

Raffaele Palladino – 6.5 – Lively

Showed great skill to run on to a clever through ball and should have finished past Rafael but was fortunate the save landed at the feet of teammate Nocerino for the first goal. Had another effort saved by Rafael and worked hard but could not find the net.

Daniele Gallopa – 6 – Uneventful

Replaced Varela midway through the second half and performed a midfield role without much sparkle

Abdelkader Ghezzal – N/A

Mirko Esposito- N/A
