Atalanta coach Edy Reja praised his side after securing a 3-2 win against Palermo on Sunday afternoon at the Stadio Renzo Barbera, stating that the result may be an important step in La Dea securing Serie A safety.

The Nerazzurri claimed all three points despite being reduced to 10 men thanks to Vlada Avramov’s sending off as goals from Daniele Baselli, Alejandro Gomez and an own goal by Sinisa Andelkovic were enough to claim the important away result.

“We have not yet said our last word, but I think we have made a decisive step to salvation,” Reja told Sky Sport Italia after the match.

“Today we made things more complicated, conceding a penalty, but we were lucky and managed to hold on and win the match.

“This win could be crucial for safety. We open the scoring often, but aren’t able to finish off the games well. Even today it was difficult, with the red card given to Avramov. The guys gave their all in order to achieve this victory.

“Baselli? We all know his qualities. Today I substituted him because I wanted to hold on to the result, while he prefers to attack more.

“The future? The team has important qualities. I think the management wants to make a team that will not fight for salvation in the next Serie A campaign, but we already have good players in the team.

“I want to stay and fight with Atalanta. I still feel well and as long as my heart is ok I’m peaceful and quiet.”
