Miralem Pjanic RomaRoma’s Miralem Pjanic continues to be linked with a switch to Catalan giants Barcelona, as the Spanish side look to sign a replacement for the ageing Xavi Hernandez.

Barca coach Luis Enrique spent a season at the helm of the Giallorossi back in 2011/12, with Pjanic at his disposal and remains a huge admirer of the Bosnian midfielder, despite the tactician failing to make a positive mark during his spell in Rome.

According to reports in La Gazzetta dello Sport, the La Liga outfit are keen to find a goal-scoring alternative for the 35-year-old Xavi, who is expected to leave the Camp Nou at the end of the current campaign.

Barcelona continue to be banned from signing any players until January 2016, but this is not expected to deter the Spanish side from making an offer for the player.

Pjanic, famed for his deadly free kicks, has played over 120 times for Roma, scoring 17 goals since signing in 2011.

Barca need to continue building the team with Barca youth players. Key players can be brought in as Suarez and Neymar were. Roberto or Samper could replace Xavi if given the chance. Rakajtic was to be the replacement for Xavi but he doesn’t possess the ball control or passing skills need. Barca should have never allowed Thiago to leave. He was the perfect fit.
