Cagliari defender Luca Rossettini reflected on his sides 1-0 defeat to Palermo a loss which sees them official relegated, before admitting his desire to remain at the club.

The club from Sardinia are now mathematically relegated and thus will be playing in Serie B come next season, a prospect that they haven’t had to face for the past 11 years.

The 30-year-old defender admitted his disappointment in the result and the season, though he plans to stand by his club next season.

“It’s hard that we failed to keep the little hope that we still had alive,” The Italian told.

“The performance today reflects our season, we have given and done so much to little effect, and we conceded the first shot on goal.

“The are a lot of consequences to being relegated, it’s always like that.

“So many things were wrong from the start, and and all the coaching changes and the players haven’t helped us fix the situation.

“Our squad is the youngest in Serie A, and that did not help. During the season we have also conceded so many goals, without managing to find a spark.”

When questioned on whether he will stay for Serie B, Rossettini replied: “I’m ready if the conditions are right. I will decide together with the club, but now it’s too early and this season has literally drained me.”
