Following the apparent break down of a deal to buy Lecce, Sampdoria president Massimo Ferrero has turned his attention to purchasing another Lega Pro club with reports emerging that the film producer is ready to launch a bid to take control at Messina.

The eccentric patron only took over the Blucerchiati in the summer but he is on the look out for other investment opportunities in Italian football with the 63-year-old recently declaring that he wants to buy four new clubs.

Tuttolegapro.com understands that Ferrero aims to invest in several Southern Italian clubs from the lower divisions with his attention now focused upon Messina who are struggling financially under current patron Pietro Lo Monaco, although other side such as Benevento, Foggia and Cosenza have also been mentioned as being of interest.

Although Messina are currently sitting in the Liga Pro Group C relegation play off spots, the Sicilian club played in Serie A as recently as 2007.
