Udinese coach Andrea Stramaccioni has called on his side to give a strong defensive performance ahead of their visit to the Stadio Bentegodi to play Hellas Verona in Serie A on Sunday.

The Friulani have won only one of their last eight league fixtures and are aware of the threat of Verona forward Luca Toni, who has scored 12 of their last 18 Serie A goals.

“We need a dedicated team that will not lose the characteristics seen in the last two games against AC Milan and Inter,” the 39-year-old tactician said in his pre-match press conference.

“The defence will be called on to give a great performance because the opposition have one of the best strikers in Serie A in Luca Toni up front.

“The objective is continue performing well, we had many difficulties against Verona in the first meeting earlier this season.”

Udinese lost the reverse fixture 2-1 on December 14 and have failed record a win against the Veneti in Serie A since a 2-1 success at Bentegodi on December 9 2001.
