Hellas Verona striker Luca Toni has said his side failed to fill their expectations against Parma on Sunday.

Toni scored twice for the Gialloblu which ended in a 2-2 draw away to the Crociati in Serie A in the penultimate game of the season, and Toni said that the whole team wanted to claim all three points in the match but failed, and he explained why.

“Today we wanted to win but we did not succeed,” the 37-year-old told Sky Sport Italia.

“We took too long getting into the game.”

The former World Cup winner acknowledged his disappointment, but was also not a sore loser and complimented their opponents and said he doesn’t like the situation that the club are currently in.

“It’s too bad, but you also have to congratulate our opponents in Parma.

“I feel sorry for them as I have many friends who play for them.”
