Tottenham Hotspur have stepped up their interest in Fiorentina’s Micah Richards who is currently on loan from Premier League rivals Manchester City.

Richards has spent most of his time in Florence warming the bench for Vincenzo Montella and is expected to return to his parent club in England once the season comes to an end.

The Daily Mirror claim that Spurs are ready to make a bid for the 26-year-old to prepare for the 2015/16 Premier League season and make their first signing of the summer transfer market.

It is said that Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino has lost faith in Kyle Walker and is looking for a more reliable source to take the reigns of the right-back position at White Hart Lane.

Southampton are also said to be intrigued with the prospect of the Englishman being available to sign, so Spurs will be on their toes to make a swift move for Richards in the coming weeks.
