Udinese sporting director Cristiano Giaretta has expressed his desire to see talismanic Zebrette striker Antonio Di Natale renew his tenure with the club and score a goal in the newly renovated Stadio Friuli.

With his current contract set to expire at the end of June, the 37-year-old remains highly admired by the club and fans for his goalscoring exploits.

“We want to keep Di Natale,” said Giaretta to Sky Sport Italia before Sunday’s clash with Sampdoria.

“Our intention has never been hidden, especially by the Pozzo family, that our desire, like the fans, is to see Toto [Di Natale] score in the new stadium.”

The director additionally gave his admiration and support to Andrea Stramaccioni as his first season in charge of the club draws to a close.

“We are happy with what he’s doing,” he said.

“There is a good atmosphere at the moment, we expect him to stay until the end of the Serie A season, and we are happy with him, and a team that is doing well and wants to compete with everyone.”
