Daniele Bonera is expected to be offered a contract renewal to stay at AC Milan for at least another season.

The defender joined the Rossoneri for €3 million from Parma in 2006 and was recently praised by Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani for reaching the milestone of 200 appearances for the club.

The 34-year-old’s current deal runs out in the summer but Sportmediaset reports that Bonera, who celebrates his birthday on Sunday, will receive a year extension to take him into his testimonial season.

Bonera has only made 16 appearances in Serie A this campaign but has spent some time on the sidelines through injury.

The Brescia native joined Milan the season the club avenged their Istanbul nightmare by beating Liverpool to lift their seventh Champions League title.

The former Italian international made 16 appearances during the 2010/11 season when Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva helped the Rossoneri win the last of their 18 Scudetti.
