Zdenek Zeman believes that Lazio are currently a better team than Roma, ahead of the Derby della Capitale next weekend.
The 68-year-old coached both team in the 1990s, briefly returning to the Lupi in 2012, and now finds himself out of work after two unsuccessful spells with Serie A strugglers Cagliari in 2014/15.
Speaking to Corriere dello Sport, the Czech coach said: “I hope to see them both in the Champions League, but I think Lazio are a better team with a greater chance of reaching second place.”
It being 30 years since his first title, the Serie C2 championship with Licata, Zeman also had his say on Juventus’ run to the Champions League final.
“Barcelona are the favourites but anything can happen,” Zeman said, “Juventus can be the final revenge of Italian football.
“So I hope they take it, and hope that it will even be able to improve Italian football as a whole.”
