Following his loan stint at Inter, Lukas Podolski has looked back with some regrets on his decision to leave Arsenal for the Nerazzurri.

Podolski moved to Inter on a simple loan deal during the January transfer window, with the German due to return to Arsenal at the end of the season.

It all turned an overall disappointing spell however, with the 30-year-old forward only scoring and assisting once in 17 Serie A appearances. In a long interview to German media, Podolski reminisced on his dismaying time in Italy.

“It was a mistake to go to Inter on a simple loan deal with no buyout clause,” Podolski said to Bild.

“The season is over now however; in football there are times when not everything goes according to plan … Today, I have to look forward.

“I have always felt good in London, with the fans, the clubs and the coach. The English Premier League is much more suited to my style of play; I want to give my all to regain a starting spot at Arsenal.”
