AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has said that he and his family will always own the majority of the club.

The Italian spoke after he struck a deal to sell 48% of the Serie A giants to Thai investor Bee Taechaubol, a percentage which would ensure that the Berlusconi name maintains the controlling stake.

“We have signed an exclusive deal for eight weeks to negotiate the sale of the minority of AC Milan, after which we will make the final contract,” confirmed the former Italy prime minister to Sky Sport Italia.

“How important is it to me to keep hold of the majority? Very important.

“I have always told my children that they could sell everything except two things: the house of Arcore and AC Milan.

“My family which comes after me will also always hold a majority.”

Berlusconi and Taechaubol have also spoken proudly of their plans to build an ambitious economic and sports project that would return AC Milan to the glory days of years gone by.
