Shanghai Shenhua are still hopeful of landing Roma striker Seydou Doumbia as the Giallorossi look to offload the Ivorian attacker.

Signing in January 2015 from CSKA Moscow, Doumbia was permanently acquired by the Lupi after an automatic purchase clause of €14.5 million was activated, although by the time the investment was confirmed it was far from desired.

Just two Serie A goals during his injury-hit time at the Stadio Olimpico means Roma are willing to sell, and Chinese club Shanghai Shenua are interested, according to coach Francis Gillot: “On my list are Demba Ba and Seydou Doumbia, I have asked the club to sign at least one of these strikers,” the Frenchman said.

Interest in Besiktas attacker Ba is considerably higher than in Doumbia, with Premier League side West Bromwich Albion reportedly keen on the former Chelsea man, which could force Shanghai’s hand into signing the unwanted Roma poacher.
