The former Juventus coach tasted defeat for the first time after falling 1-0 to Portugal in Geneva on Tuesday, but the Lecce native has not let that dampen his spirits as he looks forward to the summer.
“We have all worked together a lot and on my part I must say that I have put my passion and my desire but the road we must take is still long,” he stated while speaking with vivoazzurro.it.
“We are still on the first page of a book that must still be written with the goal being to get to the 2016 Euros. And I want to get their with an ambitious squad.
“Certainly it has been an intense year for me as I have always been a coach, and becoming the CT was a big change.
“It is one thing to have players available to you to coach them everyday, it is another to do the work we do with the national team.
“But it has been a great experience in every regard even if there is a lot of work to do. We have the goal of qualifying and in this upcoming year we will look to bring more experience to the players.”
