Croatia Italy swastikaZoran Cvrk, officer in charge of security in the Croatian Federation, has come out stating that he and Croatian executives had knowledge of the Swastika drawn onto the pitch.

A swastika was cut into the grass during Italy’s EURO 2016 qualifier against Croatia on Friday in Split. UEFA had opened an investigation since then, with Croatia making a formal apology for the incident.

It would now seem that Cvrk and Croatia officials would have had full knowledge of the Swastika’s presence before the match.

“It is true that we heard about it just before the match and unfortunately did not react in time,” Cvrk said to newspaper Slobodna Dalmacija.

The Croatian media added that Cvrk failed to answer why he did not warn UEFA, with the Croatian Federation yet to confirm or comment.
