Paulo Sousa’s arrival at Fiorentina seems to be put on hold once more, with the inclusion of current Parma coach Roberto Donadoni complicating the affair.

Portuguese tactician Sousa is set to be unveiled as the new head coach of La Viola, and had been tipped to be announced several times throughout the week, however reports suggest that for a second successive time Sousa’s arrival will be delayed.

It was reported earlier on in the week that the coach had agreed to leave FC Basel to join Fiorentina, though the deal could not be completed until the Swiss side found a replacement.

The matter looked to have been settled as Basel supposedly began talks with the coach of relegated Parma side, Donadoni, however Corriere dello Sport now writes that there has been another blip forcing the whole process into a standstill.

Lingual problems are rumoured to be the cause of the delay, and Basel are now said to be backtracking on the idea of hiring the Italian. As Donadoni does not speak German (the main language spoken in that region of Switzerland) it is perceived that a language barrier would be created between the coach and the rest of the club, and is thus no longer desirable.

It is likely that until the matter is solved, or a new Basel coach is found, there will be no announcements from the Fiorentina hierarchy regarding Sousa.
