Euro 2016ESPN Brazil made headlines for all the wrong reasons on Saturday after they replaced the national flag of Georgia with that of the American state university which bears the same name.

The country of Georgia is tucked away on the intersection of Europe and Asia, while it’s namesake is a southern state in America across the other side of the world, so when it comes to differentiating the two you would think that it’s pretty obvious which one would be playing a European qualifier.

Well apparently not.

ESPN’s coverage of Georgia’s 4-0 loss to Poland was shown in Brazil, where it seems one of the programmers failed to choose the ‘correct’ Georgia, as they opted to put up the Georgian University logo instead of the correct graphic.

Images of the error soon circled around social media with many actually pleased to see the country gain some attention in that part of the world!

Though it was probably just a slip of a button, we couldn’t help but be reminded of the  TV show Community with regards to this mishap…
