Former AC Milan target Jackson Martinez has confirmed his impending transfer to Spanish side Atletico Madrid following Colombia’s exit from the Copa America.
The 28-year-old had previously looked destined to join the Rossoneri after the two clubs allegedly agreed a transfer fee, however the deal soon collapsed.
“I can confirm that I will go to Atletico Madrid,” said Martinez in his post-match press conference.
“I will sign for four years but I still do not know when I will be presented.
“I hope to complete my growth and help the squad to be victorious.”
The Colombian international has also expressed his desire to imitate the exploits of his compatriot Radamel Falcao, of whom scored 52 goals in 68 appearances for the Madrid outfit.
“I hope to do well in this shirt just like another Colombian did, Falcao.”
