Emanuele Giaccherini SunderlandSunderland midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini will remain at the club next season, the player’s agent has confirmed.

The 30-year-old Italian international endured another frustrating season on the whole in England, with injuries and poor form restricting his appearances.

Things however began to pick up near the end of the campaign after the appointment of coach Dick Advocaat, and Furio Valcareggi – Giaccherini’s agent – insists the new boss has faith in his client.

“Advocaat as a coach is a very good one, a holy man of football and he is a genius to Giaccherini,” Valcareggi told Tuttomercatoweb.

“He appreciates a player Emanuele, and he will remain to achieve his goal of going to the European Championships [next summer].

“He will stay at Sunderland 100 per cent, although there was some interest last summer. Emanuele is looking forward to starting the new season.”
