5. Radja Nainggolan – Roma

Nainggolan RomaIt remained a doubt whether the former Cagliari man would make an impact when he joined the Roman side from Sardinia in January 2014, though over a year later it is more than evident that the gamble has paid off as the Belgian midfielder has been the dynamic driving force behind Rudi Garcia’s side, adding a new dimension to their play.

Perhaps receiving a fortunate break after Kevin Strootman’s injury problems, Nainggolan was given the chance to take a grip of Roma’s midfield and did so with his powerful approach.

This was largely down to the enthusiasm and desire he holds for the game, a factor which has helped him summon more energy to enhance his attacking and defensive prowess.

It is this defensive contribution combined with his ability to go forward and score vital goals that has made him so crucial to a Roma side that previously lacked the kind of energy which he provides.

The midfielder has additionally scored five goals and given two assists in order to propel his team to a Champions League spot.
