Germany U21 coach Horst Hrubesch is pleased that his players continued in the same manner as they previously in the second half against Serbia, in their match against Denmark.

The Germans moved top of their European Under-21 Championship group after comprehensively seeing off Denmark as they finally displayed their best football with captain Kevin Volland and Amin Younes impressing in particular.

“It was really pleasing to play the same as we did in the second half against Serbia,” Hrubesch told reporters at his post-match conference.

“It was tough to get into the match in the first ten minutes, but we were facing a very good team. After that, though, we were able to go through the gears. We fought as a team.

“We had to go through the middle and Kevin [Volland] was key to that as the focal point of the attack

“You can’t play long balls against Denmark so we passed through the pitch and perhaps that showed up their weaknesses in the end. I’ve great respect for Denmark.

“We want to win every game and that has to be the mentality going into the last match.”
