yaya toure - Man CityInter coach Roberto Mancini continues to target Manchester City midfielder Yaya Toure as the centrepiece of a new Nerazzurri squad aimed at reclaiming, at minimum, a Champions League position next season.

The pursuit of the 32-year old Ivorian began immediately upon Mancio’s second stint with Inter and the embers that started burning in November are quickly developing into a smouldering fire.

“Yaya Toure told me he wanted a change of scenery and in the last six months I’ve talked to him about the project we are building here at Inter,” Mancini said in an interview with La Stampa.

“[Toure] spoke with [Manchester City] but six months ago he said he wanted to come to Milan,” Mancini added reaffirming the desire by both parties to complete a deal.

The talented midfielder enjoyed a breakthrough season two years ago scoring 20 goals and adding nine assists en route to the Citizens second Premier League title in three years, the first won with Mancini at the helm, but fell off last season after a disappointing World Cup.
