It has emerged that Portuguese giants Porto may have beaten Inter in the race to sign Olympique Marseille’s Gianelli Imbula just as the Nerazzurri were expected to announce the imminent arrival the 22-year-old.

The Milan based club had tabled an offer that included an initial one year loan with an obligation to make the transfer permanent next summer for a fee of €20 million.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport understands that the Dragoes have made a higher bid following discussions between the player’s representatives and none other than Bee Taechaubol, the Thai businessman expected to purchase a 48% share in AC Milan.

The report alleges that “Mr Bee” became involved in retaliation after Inter beat the Rossoneri to the signing of Geoffrey Kondogbia last week. Milan had believed they had already secured the Frenchman’s signature.

It remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri will match Porto’s bid which is rumoured to be in the region of €25 million, or if they will turn their attention elsewhere.
