Inter target Javier Hernandez could be set for a return to La Liga as part of the transfer of Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia to Manchester United.

The 27-year-old, whose current contract with United is set to expire in 2016, spent last season on loan at Real Madrid but the Spanish giants have not taken up their option to sign him on a permanent basis.

According to TuttoMercatoWeb.com, the Mexican international striker does not have a future in Manchester under Louis Van Gaal, and could be used as a makeweight in a deal to take Argentine defender Otamendi to the English Premier League.

Inter coach Roberto Mancini is a long term admirer of the prolific marksman and wants him to bolster his attacking options next season, but it seems he may have to seek other targets.

Hernandez scored seven goals during 23 La Liga appearances for Real Madrid last season.
