Inter look to be on the brink of taking in midfielder Felipe Melo after the player announced his departure from Galatasaray, leaving a message for fans of the club.

The Nerazzurri have been increasingly linked to the Brazilian in the past few weeks with reports suggesting that the club have stepped in with a 5 million offer, and now look poised to complete the transfer after Melo confirmed his impending exit.

“I initially came to Galatasaray on loan [from Juventus] and at that time I never knew that my adventure with this shirt would become so important,” Melo said, in a message to the club and supporters.

“I was so happy when the club eventually bought me, and that I was able to become one of the leaders of this team.

“I never thought that I’d leave this place as an idol of the fans, but it makes me very happy [to have had such an impact].”

While the 31-year-old is set to leave there is yet to be an official word from the club as to the sale, thus it remains unseen who will acquire the services of the former Fiorentina and Juventus man, though Inter remain current favourites.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini previously worked with Melo during his brief spell with the Turkish club during the 2013/14 season.
