Denmark U21 coach Jess Thorup was impressed by his sides 2-0 victory over Serbia in the European U21 Championship as the Scandinavians won Group A and achieve qualification for the Semi-finals.

Goals in either half from Rasums Falk and Viktor Fischer secured the three points for the Danes who leapfrogged Germany into top spot in the group after Horst Hrbesch’s team could only manage a draw against hosts Czech Republic.

“I’m very pleased for what we did today,” Thorup explained to the media following the final whistle in Prague.

“We’ve been through a lot to get here and I was really impressed by the guys and the effort they put in. In the locker room there was a great party atmosphere and I would say that this team deserves to celebrate.

“We are already very happy and satisfied because we have already secured the first goal we had set ourselves which was to finish as one of the best four teams in Europe.

“Now we move forward with confidence.”

Denmark will play the runner up from Group B in the next round.
