Juventus will be without defender Giorgio Chiellini for the Champions League final with a calf muscle injury.
The Bianconeri were concentrating on tactical preparations this morning ahead of Saturday’s clash with Barcelona but the 30-year-old missed out after feeling discomfort on Wednesday.
The club’s official website said a scan revealed a first grade tear of the soleus muscle in his left leg, meaning the defender will not feature in Berlin.
The news is a big blow to Massimiliano Allegri’s plans of dealing with Barca trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez, the latter Chiellini hasn’t faced since the infamous bite incident during the 2014 World Cup.
It was to be the Italian international’s first Champions League final and his place is expected to be taken by Andrea Barzagli, who on Wednesday returned to training after his own recent injuries.
Juventus will leave for Germany on Friday morning for what will be their first European final since losing on penalties to AC Milan in the 2003 Champions League.
