Felipe Anderson - Torino v LazioSampdoria have been joined by Lazio and Napoli in being investigated by UEFA as the governing body are looking into the awarding of European licenses to all three clubs.

In order to participate in the Champions League or the Europa League, a club must be granted a UEFA license by the European governing body. However doubts have emerged over Lazio’s entry into the Champions League because of Stefano Mauri’s ban for failing to report match-fixing.

Corriere dello Sport reports that the Biancocelesti are at risk, along with Napoli who are being investigated due to Matteo Giannelli’s charges of match-fixing whilst on their books.

Fellow Europa League qualifiers Sampdoria are said to be at the greatest risk due to former player Stefano Guberti’s involvement in the betting scandal which engulfed Italian football in 2011.

The report suggests that these charges were brought to the attention of UEFA by another Italian club, though it is unknown who that club is at this time.

UEFA has cracked down on clubs entering European competition if embroiled in recent scandals such as doping or match-fixing, particularly after AC Milan won the 2007 Champions League despite their involvement in Calciopoli.
