Lazio have identified Liverpool’s Fabio Borini as one of their primary targets during the summer transfer window as Stefano Pioli’s side look to strengthen ahead of their Champions League adventure next term.

The Biancocelesti have already moved swiftly in the market and after confirming the signings of Wesley Hoedt, Ravel Morrison and Patric, the capital side will now turn their attention towards reinforcing their attacking department.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports that president Claudio Lotito is ready to move for Borini who has struggled to break into the Reds first team since moving to Merseyside from Roma in 2012. After spending last season on loan at Sunderland the 24-year-old only managed to make 12 appearances for Brendan Rodgers team this term.

Gazzetta also understands that another forward under consideration is Gonzalo Bergessio who has just been released by Sampdoria while Basel’s Albanian midfielder Shkelzen Gashi is another player who has been attracting Lazio’s interest.
