Long-standing Inter target Yaya Toure has pledged his future to current club Manchester City.

The Ivorian midfielder has been strongly linked to a switch to the Nerazzurri in recent months, but has now spoken out to reject the notion that he will be leaving City in the summer.

“I will definitely stay here at City. The fans don’t have to be worried,” the former Barcelona man told Manchester Evening News.

“My target for this year is to do everything possible to make this team improve well, and I’m sure that with my experience and the players coming in, it is going to be a strong City next year.”

The Citizens failed to retain their English Premier League crown this season after falling eight points behind victors Chelsea, but the 32-year-old insists that an aim of his is to win the trophy again, and also make progress in the Champions League.

“The Premier League is one of my big targets because City have been in the shadow of Manchester United for so long.

“Their fans say that they are at the top because they have already won the Champions League, but what I want for our fans is the Champions League, and I will do everything possible.”

Toure has won five club honours since moving to Manchester in 2010, and worked under current Inter coach Roberto Mancini for three seasons.
