Ravel Morrison looks set to stay at Lazio, despite his reported homesickness and interest from Queens Park Rangers.
The 22-year-old English youth international signed a pre-contract with the Albiceleste in February, but recent reports suggested he was failing to acclimatise in Rome and wanted a release to return to his homeland.
According to Il Tempo, Morrison has been convinced by the Serie A club to stick it out for at least a season, to see if things improve rather than to take a quick escape back to England.
Meanwhile, Lazio director Igli Tare is trying to appease coach Stefano Pioli by bringing in a midfielder he desires, and has identified €12-million-rated Borussia Monchengladbach general Granit Xhaka as his priority.
Cagliari midfielder Albin Ekdal is another alternative, but the two clubs’ relations have soured over the Davide Astori bungle last summer.
A striker is also on the agenda, with targets ranging from Corinthians’ Alexandre Pato, Liverpool poacher Fabio Borini, AC Milan man Giampaolo Pazzini and Bursaspor striker Cedric Bakambu.
