Juventus have officially signed striker Mario Mandzukic from Atletico Madrid for €19 million.

The Croatian international joins the Bianconeri on a four-year contract after agreeing to leave the Spanish club after just one season.

The club’s official website said Juventus will pay €7 million in August before two further installments of €6 million over the next two years with up to €2m extra linked to how Mandzukic performs.

The 29-year-old is likely to replace outgoing Argentine forward Carlos Tevez with El Apache expected to seal a move back to his boyhood heroes Boca Juniors.

The move was no great secret after the Serie A champions posted a picture on Twitter of the former Bayern Munich forward arriving at Turin airport on Sunday, saying “Mario Mandzukic has just landed in Turin! Welcome!”

It will be the third time that Mandzukic has joined the previous season’s Champions League runners-up, having signed for Bayern and Atletico Madrid under the same circumstances.

Mandzukic scored 20 goals in all competitions for Atletico last season but was unable to help the Madrid club retain their La Liga title.
