President of Olympique de Marseille Vincent Labrune has confirmed his intention to cash in on Inter target Giannelli Imbula, as the cash-strapped French club remain desperate for money.

Marseille have already lost several key players since the start of the summer transfer window, in an effort to reduce the wage bill and improve their financial status; midfield star Imbula could be the next to exit the Stade Velodrome.

Labrune announced his intent to sell the Frenchman in an interview with French newspaper L’Equipe, which comes after weeks of speculation connecting the young talent with a move to the Nerazzurri.

“The person that we [at Marseille] have to sell is Giannelli Imbula,” Labrune confirmed.

“Everyone should know this.”

The news comes as a huge boost to Inter as they look to add the player to their squad alongside new Ligue 1 signing Geoffrey Kondogbia.

Yet despite Labrune’s clear wish to sell immediately, it remains to be seen what deal could potentially be struck between the two clubs, with reports from La Gazzetta dello Sport suggesting that Inter may prefer a loan deal instead of paying the €18 million price tag outright.
