After losing out in the race for Carlos Bacca to Serie A rivals AC Milan, Roma have set their sights on Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko.

The Bosnian frontman has rarely been seen as first-choice for the Premier League club and now appears ready to accept a new challenge and he has become Roma sporting director Walter Sabatini’s top target.

However, Il Tempo report that the English club could be willing to lower their €20m valuation of the 29-year-old his demands of a yearly salary in the region of €6m-a-year could be a potential stumbling block for the Giallorossi.

Roma are looking to make a bigger impact at home and abroad during the upcoming campaign.

With that in mind, the capital club continue to monitor Shakhtar Donetsk’s Luiz Adriano, while Romelu Lukaku of Everton has come to their attention through the efforts of his agent Mino Raiola.
