Di Silvestri – Sampdoria

Lorenzo De Silvestri is officially a Sampdoria player after the Blucerchiati paid Fiorentina €1 million to end their co-ownership of the defender.

The 27-year-old contract is now fully owned by Sampdoria as the system of co-ownership is in it’s final stages of being phased out before the start of the new season.

De Silvestri first arrived at the Stadio Luigi Ferraris in 2012 and established himself under Sinisa Mihajlovic as Doria’s first choice right back and towards the end of the season received a recall to the Italian national team after a three-year absence.

The return was soured as De Silvestri suffered a serious knee injury during the Azzurri’s 1–1 away draw against Croatia in a Euro 2016 qualification match. The injury is likely to keep the four-time capped international out until December.

De Silvestri is four shy of making a century of appearances in all competitions for Sampdoria and has scored eight times in that time; four of which came during the last campaign.
