Sampdoria have turned to Sao Paulo defender Rafael Toloi, after being snubbed by Inter defender Marco Andreolli this week.

The 24-year-old Brazilian youth international actually spent six months in the Serie A with Roma in 2014 on loan, but the Giallorossi chose against making his transfer a permanent one.

Sky Sport Italia report that Sampdoria’s search for Alessio Romagnoli’s replacement has led them to Brazil, where they have identified Toloi as the the perfect addition.

Sao Paulo are reported to be open to a sale, and could accept Sampdoria’s offer of a loan with an option to buy for a fixed amount if he impresses enough.

The Blucerchiati were believed to be closing in on Andreolli this past week, before the defender chose to reject the switch, preferring to wait from an offer from Sevilla.
