Carpi 3Serie A debutants Carpi will play away from the cozy confines of the Stadio Sandro Cabassi and instead call the Stadio Alberto Braglia in Modena home for their Serie A and Coppa Italia matches next season.

The distinctive Cabassi has been home to Carpi since its construction in 1928 but its seating capacity of 4,000 and limited facilities were not in line with Serie A standards, forcing the Biancorossi to look for other accommodations.

The city of Modena made the announcement on Friday after an agreement was signed by Carpi’s managing director Stefano Bonacini and Modena FC president Antonio Caliendo.

Carpi supporters will only have a brief 20 kilometer trip south to see their beloved squad make their maiden voyage in Italy’s top flight after the club ran away with the Serie B title, securing promotion with four matches left in the campaign.

Carpi will pay Modena €210,000 next season with an option to continue their stay at the Stadio Braglia the following campaign for €150,000 in an arrangement that will see the Biancorossi share the grounds with Modena FC, who barely avoided being relegated to Lega Pro in a playout tie with Virtus Entella.

While the Stadio Alberto Braglia was originally constructed in 1912 it has undergone a four-phase development project which concluded in 2007 and seats over 21,000.
