Unai EmerySevilla coach Unai Emery has revealed that he turned down offers from Napoli and West Ham United this summer in order to remain with the Andalusian club.

The 43-year-old, who has guided Los Rojiblancos to consecutive Europa League crowns, revealed that the Azzurri’s failure to qualify for the upcoming Champions League played a large factor in his decision to reject Aurelio De Laurentiis’ offer.

“Napoli offered me a project with a major economic force, but without Champions League football,” he told El Pais.

I also had nice offer from West Ham, a very interesting financial offer but I rejected it.”

The former Valencia and Spartak Moscow coach went on to praise his current club ahead of what is to be an important campaign for the Spanish club.

We will start the season with the UEFA Super Cup against Barcelona and then we will play in the Champions League.

“Sevilla have afforded me this opportunity. We have been able to create a culture of work on all levels.”
