Valdifiori - EmpoliFormer Napoli sporting director Giorgio Perinetti believes that midfielder Mirko Valdifiori can become a crucial player at the club after arriving from Empoli.

The Italy international follows new Parteneopei coach Maurizio Sarri in swapping the Stadio Carlo Castellani for the Stadio San Paolo the summer in a move worth €5.5 million.

“Valdifiori has reached full maturity and it is important for Sarri to have a player that he trusts,” the 64-year-old told Radio Marte.

“He will surely need time to acclimatise to his new surroundings, but I think he can become a crucial player.”

Perinetti also backed the appointment of former Carpi sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli to replace Riccardo Bigon at Napoli.

“He has all the qualities to do well in his new surroundings too,” he concluded.

Both Valdifiori and Giuntoli are reported to have agreed to join the Azzurri on four-year deals.
